Currently April

Poof! Another month is gone! Every time I sit down to write a Currently, I am in utter shock another month has gone by so quickly! However, I am a bit excited for April... One step closer to Spring break, summer vacay and most importantly, baseball season has started!

Here is what I am up to:

1. Our house is WAY to quiet right now. I think I need to turn the TV on for background noise.

2. So happy baseball season has officially begun! We are a baseball lovin' family, so April is a very happy month for all of us. Go Dodgers! GO CUBS! (have to root for both)

3. We don't have state testing in 2nd grade this year because our tests are being switched to align to Common Core. They are also going to be online only. So, our baseline is for 3rd through 5th grade only. Good for me, not so good for upper grade teachers. Our district is not ready to go to full online testing, but of course, we are doing it anyway. I feel so bad for those little kiddos.

4. Spring Break cannot come soon enough, my friends. I still have 2 weeks before I can potentially sleep in. I. NEED. A. BREAK!

5. My heart is so sad. We had to put our beautiful 12 year old lab down yesterday. It was one of the most difficult things I have had to do. My boys don't know life without her. Our house is not the same. Time heals all things, but right now it is hard to imagine our life without her in it each day.

6. My school day is 7:30 to 2:30. But we all know the day is much longer that our "official" hours. The kids day is 8:00 to 2:08. We get out for the summer on June 6th!

Make sure to head on over and link up and share what you are up to "currently" too!

  2. I found you over at Farley, so sorry to hear about you losing your dog, I completely understand your pain right now, but I am sure in time you will remember the joys more than the sadness you have right now. We don't have testing in Grade 2 either here in Australia which like you I am happy about. I hope you start to feel a little lighter in your heart soon.

  3. I am so sorry about your loss. Those fur babies make such a deep hole in our hearts when we have to say goodbye.

  4. Oh Jamie! My heart aches for you and your family...your little guys must be so sad. I still remember my little "Archie" and he sits on my bookshelf now. Hope you can take time to remember and create some sort of memorial...that helped me I found. That's a tuff hole to mend my friend!
On a positive note, I'm so happy to hear you do not have any state testing for your kiddos...kids shouldn't have any at such a young age anyway!
Glad we got to connect through the currently this month!

  5. Jaime, I am so sad for you losing your beloved pet. I cannot imagine how it must be to have to get through the day without her. I do hope every day gets a little bit easier. Spring break cannot come fast enough. Hang in there my friend!

    Hugs!

  6. Hi Jamie, I am so, so sorry for your loss. It is so difficult to heal that space in our heart when a pet passes away, but you are right..time makes it easier. As I write this, I can't help but remember my Sam, who I had to say good-bye to two years ago (Sunday will be two years exactly)...I'm crying just thinking about him and your story. Have you read the poem, "Rainbow Bridge"? I also love the book "Dog Heaven," by Cynthia Rylant. It's such a sweet book. Pets hold a special place in our hearts. I will always remember my Sam...and your sweetie will always be a part of your family, watching over you all.
    Take care!!!
