This is my first time linking up with Sunny Days in Second Grade. I can't wait to share this week's truth with all of you.

This is my truth:
As a young child, I always wanted to be a teacher. It was part of who I was. It was in my blood, running through my veins on a daily basis. I played school in my bedroom growing up and graded my stuffed animals tests.
While I was in high school, some of my closest friends told me I was "too smart" to become a teacher and I was selling myself short. Hmmm... never thought of it THAT way. High school is a very impressionable time in a young girl's life, so I decided to wouldn't commit to the education major and I would explore my options. I finally settled on being a pre-law major. I was going to be a child advocate lawyer and save the world! Well, that idea came to a screeching halt when I realized I wouldn't be able to "save" every child I came across. I finally realized I was being silly and should listen to my heart and soul and become a teacher. It was the best decision I have ever made and I have never looked back with regret. Every day that I open my classroom door to my group of kiddos, I know I am doing the best I can to love, educate, and embrace each one of them and make them the best they can be too.
This is who I am. This is my truth.

Great story - we do have such an impact. Sometimes you may not know it for years until you see a former student and they tell you what you meant to them. Awesome profession!
